icing on the cake: if i click on the name of the folder, then go to “Folder information”, there is actually a “Search with” option hidden there. great, right? SURPRISE! IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY WORK! IT CAN'T FIND ANYTHING!!!

we need to make personal websites a thing again because goddamn every time someone puts stuff in a google drive or a dropbox it's just torture trying to find things in it

@hikari only tangentally related, but reminds me also of things increasingly breaking browser Ctrl+F in favour of something that only halfway does the right thing if you're lucky

(most recently github's rendering of a single file, but many other cases too)

@firefly so many websites break ctrl-f so that they can dynamically render more content as you scroll up and down, but in many cases they wouldn't need to do this if the generated html weren't so bloated to begin with. a browser can easily handle a huge file listing in plain html and search it rapidly

‪really i'm just complaining about free file hosting here, which has always been terrible, i just find google and dropbox's offerings particularly intolerable‬
