@firefly is it this bad in other places?

@hikari I think the particularly heavy pressure on registration is a Berlin thing--at least both times I registered there were plenty of open slots in Muc and I could book a timeslot online

but also like, at times german bureaucracy can be a bit Like That in general I feel like

@firefly they should make a special tax on landlords just to fund anmeldung appointments,

@firefly though seriously this seems like it could be digitalisiert. in sweden it's only when immigrating that you need to show up personally…

@hikari other fun things, sometimes there's assumptions that your Ausweis includes residency info since the german ones have that on the back

sometimes one can't register for things with a foreign phone number (notably banks so far in my experience); why wouldn't you have a german one?

I mean tbf Sweden might well be equally bad with these for all I know...

@firefly I think Sweden might have unusually good awareness of foreign phone numbers… never got any weird reactions to writing mine with the +46 prefix. I think the amount of Danes (and perhaps Norwegians and Finns) Swedes interact with makes it normal to them

@hikari ...I mean, unrelated to moving stuffs, but re bureaucracy/services being broken... I tried to cancel a dentist appointment a while back on 1177.se only to get an "access denied" back

I reported it since I thought it's not the most user-friendly message, but got a response that it's working as intended, since I no longer live in the same region as the clinic the appointment was for

baffling UX decisions :p
