@hikari even though it's fairly popular I still think haruhi is one of the most underrated anime ever made

@hikari it's been a while since I've watched it but some thoughts:

1. I really enjoy the moments of serenity where for minutes nothing happens and we just hear background noise of a normal busy after school day. It is Lynchian in framing but instead of causing anxiety it gives a sense of coziness.

2. As someone who is often restless and day dreams about fantastical things happening, I see the show as a melange of "what if these day dreams are all true" and the "mundane" everyday life that turns out to be just as exciting

@osy86 that's a perspective i like! despite my fantastical language and stuff, in recent years i put more and more value in finding everyday things exciting

3. Watching the endless-8 made me really question "what makes an anime engaging"? In an absurdist way, they really distilled the question to the basics. Is it the plot? The music? The characters? The situations? Or is it the craft? The animation? The week after week of anticipation? It is so much work to make episodes of anime and they put in that work week after week and watching those episodes is the first time I really appreciated the craft.
