@hikari this is only tangentially related but there’s a vikingcore cover of “seven nation army” where they replace “I’m going to Wichita” with “I’m going to Uppsala” which I find existentially funny for some reason m.youtube.com/watch?v=vAV4Rf2y

@0xabad1dea in modern day Sweden Uppsala is mostly known for its university, so this is quite funny to me as well

@hikari the cadence of Wichita to an American is “I recognize the name but I am unaware of any reason you’d want or need to go there”

@0xabad1dea as an unamerican, it's one of those american places that i've heard of and know nothing about, but i assume it's not important (i mean it is in kansas). i mostly remember it because it's fun to say.

@saagar @0xabad1dea see i think the legal concept of a city is fake. especially given i grew up in a country that has three different words for a place depending on how large it is, and now i live in a country that has two.

@hikari @0xabad1dea (Kansas City, Missouri is a bit over 3x the population of Kansas City, Kansas)

@saagar @0xabad1dea yeah it is funny that the kansas city's smaller part is in kansas

@hikari @0xabad1dea To be fair their relative population is kind of close to the ratio of their state’s populations
