I was expecting a bit more noise about this but I’ve been doing watchOS debugging in Xcode 15 for the last couple days and here’s what I have to say:

Works.

If you work on Apple Watch, you should get on this *now*. I am 100% serious: it will change your entire workflow.

@khaost Bet you it’s because visionOS and/or iPhone is going fully wireless

@saagar I imagine it's probably mostly for Vision Pro? For iPhone they will probably include the same 60.5GHz ultra short range communication stack used in recent Watches as part of the MagSafe

@saagar @lorihc This has been my experience so far too! I've only tested it with watchOS 10, does it also work for older targets in Xcode 15?

Honestly this is maybe my favourite improvement of this year ✨❤️

@hidde @saagar We mentioned this to a few folks who came by during Meet the Teams on June 5, but I’m so glad the word is spreading. Our Developer Tools friends have been working so hard on this. It works back to watchOS 9.4.

The new CoreDevice stack talks directly to your watch, so app installs finish in seconds and debugging sessions work reliably. (Yes, full debugging sessions! Breakpoints and logging!) I‘ve done dozens of deployments and each one has worked perfectly. No more restarts!

It’s like testing in the simulator, except it’s on your actual watch. During WWDC week I woke up for a morning lab, fired up Xcode, and attached a debugger to a complication to reproduce the bug while talking to the engineers. It’s *that* reliable.
